The constraint of an odd, fan shaped lot and the client’s request for the semi-public programs to face the backyard required articulation in the building massing. A simple “L” massing functions as an elegant spine accommodating circulation, bedrooms and bathrooms. Working within a coastal vernacular, bump-outs are utilized to accommodate programs where the site constrained the simple “L”, these differently scaled bump-outs animate the facades.
